Kari HThe way belly dance came into my life was really quite casual.  At the time, I had no idea how important belly dance and my troupe sisters would become in my life.  It all started when I was standing in line for a movie with my friend Lexi, when she turned to me and said that there was this woman (Quinn) she worked with who was teaching a small bellydance class, and that she was going to give it a try.  Lexi asked me if I'd like to do it with her, and I said something like, "What the heck, I'll try it for a week or so, it could be fun."

That was nearly nine years ago.  Belly dance turned out to be more than fun.  Through belly dance I have made many new friends, gained self confidence, and new reverence and respect for my and other women's bodies.  Belly dance has taught me to love my body-- not only for what it looks like, but also for what it can do.
